TrekrMagz: David Cook in Concert

David Cook concert has successfully been held last
Tuesday (07/17) in Tennis Indoor Stadium, Senayan,
Jakarta. David Cook, a rocker with a distinctive
voice, has made the dreams of his Indonesian fans
come true that evening. Trilogy Live is the
promoter that brought him to Jakarta, in
coincidence with the schedule of his Asian tour.

The concert started on 6.30pm by Indonesian Idol
winner Regina and its contestants Yoda, Sean,
Febri, Dion, Aris, Citra, Rosa, Judika; and also past
winner Mike Mohede, which could fill the time
before the scheduled performance of David Cook
at 9pm.

These Indonesian Idol alumns gave exciting
performances with their favorite songs. Regina
Ivanova performed songs like Kemenangan, Listen
(a Beyonce song), and Adele hit songs like Rollin’ In
The Deep and Set Fire to The Rain. Rosa and Yoda
performed an Ungu song called Bahagiaku. The one
that stole attention was when Sammy Simorangkir
came up to the stage and sing “Kesedihanku” with
Sean, the runner-up.

The concert tickets ranging from 300.000 to
650.000 were so worth it since the audience can
also watch many other performances beside David

Around 8.30pm when the opening acts have done
performing, audience started to chant David’s name
, specially those who have been waiting since the
afternoon. Taking around 30 minutes to check the
instruments, the singer who is well-known for his
Mariah Carey’s song cover, Always Be My Baby,
finally came up on stage at 9pm as promised.

The season 7 American Idol winner is indeed
idolized by many Indonesians, specially for his
unique and rocking voice similar with Jason Wade
(Lifehouse), Myles Kennedy (Alter Bridge), and
Scott Stapp (Creed). This light-bearded singer
immediately rocked out with Circadian for his first
song, followed with medley Heroes with
Champagne Supernova (by Oasis). Taking a minute
to take a breath, the deep-voiced guy greeted the
audience in the Tennis Indoor.

“Thank you for coming, we are so happy to be able
to travel the world,” he shouted “Jakarta, let’s make
some noise!”. He then broke out into Mr. Sensitive
for his third song.

For the first three songs, he sang sans guitar and
on his fourth one, The Last Goodbye, he finally got
to play his guitar, strumming it with his left hand,
one of his signatures. Hysterical screams from the
audience that were mainly female were always
apparent in some moments. Undeniably, the voice
of the December 20, 1982-born singer captivated
all the audience in Tennis Indoor.

Just as he said before coming to Jakarta, David
wanted to do a duet with the 2012 Indonesian Idol
winner, Regina Ivanova, in his concert. Some time
during Always Be My Baby, David presented by
saying “Ladies and gentlemen, Regina Ivanova!”.
Regina went up on stage in the middle of the song.

The show got more exciting with this duet. Regina
performed her best, specially when her wish to do
a duet was granted after getting a video greeting
from David the previous week.

At this show, David performed his hit songs from
his albums David Cook and This Loud Morning,
“Light On”, “Hard To Believe”, “I Did It For You”,
“Paper Heart”, “Come Back To Me”, “Fade Into Me”,
and “Rapid Eye Movement”. He also performed two
new songs “From Here To Zero” and “The Last
Song I’ll Write For You” and a cover of a Led
Zeppelin song called “Rock and Roll” and “Whole
Lotta Love”.
